Born in 1953 at Black Mountain College in Asheville, NC (an avant- garde art school, during the time of the Abstract Expressionist Movement).
Topanga Canyon, California was where I was raised, amongst many artists of all kinds. We lived a creative and farm style life, led by my mother, a poet, and my father, a stone mason and sculptor and philosopher.
I have done art work since I was small, drawing and painting mostly; taking classes from the local artists in the community.
I moved from representational work to abstract painting which I find exhilarating and freeing. I use acrylic paint on canvas and pallet knives and paintbrushes...
Movement and Light and Texture... that is what excites me the most in painting.
My work has been shown at the Student Art League of Denver Summer Art Market where I won an award and was given a gallery show at the Niza Knoll Gallery with the 6 other winning artists. Also at the Boulder Library Gallery, Open Studios Boulder, First Fridays at Cedar Studios in Boulder, and at the Rembrandt Gallery, Boulder.
I now divide my time between Colorado and Oregon, both very inspirational settings for me and my painting.
In Oregon my work can be seen at Gallery One in Grants Pass and also at The Southern Oregon Guild of Artists Gallery.
